Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs

Student Absence Policy

The Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs offers a service of notification to instructors when students have/will be absent from class(es) for three (3) or more days.

An e-mail is sent to the student's instructors indicating that the student has/will miss class(es). The Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs does not verify if the absence is excusable. The student is responsible for providing verification of the absence to his/her instructors if requested.

In some instances, the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs receives official, written confidential documentation from Student Health Services that a student has/will miss class(es). This information is communicated to the student's instructors.

At the time of reporting the absence the following information is requested:

  • student's name
  • student identification number
  • local address
  • reason for absence
  • beginning date and returning date (if known)
  • students e-mail address
  • name and telephone number of the person reporting absence

Please contact us if you have any questions.
